SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR BFS PUBLICATIONS

The British Fantasy Society has a number of different areas of publishing, each with their own editors. When sending submissions, if you wish a reply or your ms to be returned to you, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with suitable postage, or two International Reply Coupons, or an email address. A response cannot be guaranteed if return postage is not supplied. Submissions to all publications are welcome from BFS members and non-members. Standard ms presentation is: A4 single side double spaced with good margins using 12 point Times Roman or Arial font - header sheet with contact details and approximate word count. Please state if your submission is available electronically and if so, in what format.


PRISMUK
The Newsletter of the British Fantasy Society
A5 format, perfect bound/stapled. Free to BFS members as part of subscription. Not available to non-members. Published six times a year. Response within four weeks. Payment is contributors copy only.
PrismUK is looking for all aspects of genre news, contributions of articles on any aspect of Fantasy or Dark Fantasy, in any media (books, magazines, graphic novels, comics, films, computing, television, music, arts etc). Interviews with authors or others involved in the fantastic media. Short book reviews and other media reviews are also welcome.

DARK HORIZONS
The British Fantasy Society Fiction Magazine
A5 format, perfect bound. Free to BFS members as part of subscription; may be offered for sale to non-members at various outlets. Published twice yearly at present, subject to review. Immediate acknowledgement of submission, reply within four weeks. Payment is contributors copy only.
Dark Horizons accepts short fantasy/dark fantasy fiction (up to 6,000 words, longer by invitation only) and poetry (up to 50 lines). Submissions welcome from established and new writers - criteria is a good story. One story per submission please.

BFS PUBLICATIONS
Assorted one-off and series publications
A5 format, perfect bound. Occasional hardback and A5 paperback format. Usually signed and numbered limited editions. Unsigned copies generally free to members as part of subscription; signed editions offered for sale at various outlets. Books published roughly three times a year. Immediate acknowledgement of submission, reply within four weeks. Payment is a pro-rata share of 50% of the profits plus complimentary copies.
BFS Publications is the publishing imprint of the British Fantasy Society and aims to showcase the best writers & artists within the fantasy genre. We publish 2-3 publications a year including themed and unthemed fiction anthologies, appreciations of well-established professionals in the field and collaborative works with other members of the independent press. Previous books have featured material by Tom Holt, Graham Masterton, Ronald Chetwynd-Hayes, Stephen Laws, Simon Clark, S Baring-Gould and Louise Cooper, and have also been about Tanith Lee, Clive Barker and Frank Belknap Long. We're looking for well-told, good fantasy/horror fiction, from short stories to full novellas, also editors with ideas for anthologies or collections. We're open to any suggestions from established or new writers and editors so please feel free to send publication proposals to the submissions editor for consideration. Either mark ms as disposable or send with sae/IRCs for return. We're also looking for high quality illustrations - send sample photocopies of work with sae/IRCs for return to the submissions editor. No unsolicited email submissions. No poetry.
